Tabula Sonorum is a duet by Dutch pianist and composer Bart van Dongen and Portuguese double bassist Gonçalo Almeida, where the exploration of improvised music with a strong minimalist influence pushes the boundaries of traditional piano and double bass playing. The musicians delve into a variety of preparations, experimenting with unconventional techniques to create a unique and diverse range of sounds.

For this particular recording they are presented as Tabula Sonorum Organum, where the piano is replaced by a church organ, creating a unique and powerful musical experience.

The deep, resonant tones of the double bass blend beautifully with the rich and majestic sound of the church organ, creating a sense of grandeur and depth, adding a dramatic and spiritual element to the music towards meditative minimalism.
